I was upset.I had lived on the first floor of his house for long.Ever since I moved back to New York City several years ago，I had had a strong affection for this apartment.And I liked the community，I had a good friend，Joanna，who lived in the community too.
Originally，Neil lived on the second floor of the house.But a few years before，he had moved into his wife Debbie's house a few miles away，lie repainted his old room on the second floor of the house，and rented that space out to some young girls.Generally，I had a harmonious relationship with these neighbors.But to say we were friends was a stretch.
Unluckily，Neil later had a serious injury，which ended his grocery career.Then he and Debbie decided to sell her house to cover his medical expenses and move back here.Neil had never raised my rent.This was a big comfort when I was laid off from my newspaper job.Now I was going to have to find a new apartment and pay more.
My neighbors upstairs had a long-term contract with Neil.I guessed that Neil actually didn't want me to move out.But he had no choice.If he had broken the contract with them，he would have paid them lots of money as a fine.So he had to ask me to move out.
After hearing the news，I was anxious.I was so upset that I got into bed and pulled the covers over my head.It was only 7：00 p.m.，but I just wanted to go to sleep and forget what was happening.
